covering some of Korea's
greatest cultural achievements.

New "Taste of Korea" booklet

KSCPP has released the new booklet titled "Taste of Korea - Korean Cuisine Full of Wisdom and Nature". This is not the usual cooking book. Recipes are introduced with accounts on how the food was invented and the wisdom behind. We are sure you will enjoy the reading and the taste of Korean food.

Lee Young Hee Fashion Show at "Samsung Experience" Minimize

Lee Young-hee, designer of the traditional Korean attire 'hanbok,' held a hanbok fashion show at the Samsung Experience exhibition hall inside the Time Warner Center in New York on May 22. She has held the fashion show every spring and autumn in New York since 2003. This year, she showcased a total 80 outfits of combined Korean and Western beauty including 15 made from a new material processed from the traditional Korean paper 'hanji.' Hanji threads combined with silk were woven into cloth, which were then naturally dyed.

The Diamond Sutra Recitation Group was there to distribute complymentary copies of their booklet series 'Admiral Yi Sunsin' and 'King Sejong the Great'. More than 400 copies were freely distributed. A limited number of the DVDs 'History of Gold, Nation of Gold: Rediscovering the Relics of Ancient Korea' and 'Dream of the Dynasty, Music of Peace' were also freely distributed.

     
 
Poetry Sundays - Ishle Yi Park, Poet Minimize

The Great Neck Arts Center (GNAC) is dedicated to promoting and supporting the arts through education, performace, exhibition and outreach.

On May 20th, 2007 the GNAC hosted "Poetry Sundays" at the Great Neck Plaza Village Hall, in Great Neck (Long Island). The guest in this event was poet Ishle Yi Park that presented some of her poems from her book "The Temperature of This Water".

Ishle Yi Park was named the Poet Laureate of Queens in 2004 and served for three years. Her first book, The Temperature of This Water, won three awards, including the Pen America Award for Outstanding Writers of Color. She has taught creative writing in high schools, colleges, prisons, and community centers across the country.

Diamond Sutra Recitation Group members at the end of the event distributed complimetary copies of the KSCPP Series booklets ("Admiral Yi Sunshin" and "King Sejong The Great") along with the DVD "The History of Gold, The Nation of Gold: Rediscovering the Relics of Ancient Korea".

     
 
Samsung and Sejong Present Minimize
"Samsung and Sejong Present" was conceived in May 2005 to coincide with the launch of "Soundbytes of Sejong" - a biographical loop featuring the Sejong ensemble and its individual memebers - at the Samsung Experience within the Time Warner Building in New York. In connection with the inaugurated a concert series to be held on the third Wednesday of each month at the Experience. These monthly performaces feature rising starts of tomorrow, including Samsung scholarship awardees of the Julliard School, award-winning composers, vocalists, quartets, and more.
 
The KSCPP will distibute a free copy of the Admiral Yi Sunsin and King Sejong booklets.

Taste Of Korea Minimize

Korean food is very unique in that fermentation is an important part of its culinary tradition. Come experience the rich taste of Korea and learn the interesting history behind Korean food.

During the event we will perform several Korean traditional ceremonies and dance:

      Sebae: formal bow of respect to elders on New Year's Day
      Pyebaek: The bride formally presents herself to the groom's parents in a traditional ceremony.
